An autopsy provides valuable diagnostic information that complements clinical evaluation and laboratory testing. Through comprehensive postmortem examination and, when indicated, histopathologic assessment, veterinary pathologists can identify disease processes, confirm diagnoses, and contribute to a more complete understanding of an animal's health condition.
