Associate Professor
Email: Rodolfo.NinoFong@liu.edu
Dr. Rodolfo Nino-Fong received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 1985 from the University of Nuevo Leon in Mexico. After one year of private practice, he joined the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Nuevo Leon as a research associate in the Clostridial Vaccine Laboratory. He continued his academic career as a lecturer from 1989 to 1992 and Associate Professor from 1992 to 1999. He earned a Master of Sciences in Immunology from the University of Nuevo Leon in 1998 and a PhD from the University of Western Ontario, Canada in 2004.
Dr. Nino-Fong was a post-doctoral fellow, research associate and seasonal lecturer of Anatomy and Physiology at Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC), University of Prince Edward Island, Canada. Dr. Nino-Fong was a member of the Comparative Orthopedic Research Laboratory at AVC from 2009 to 2014. He studied the potential use of equine and canine mesenchymal stem cells as a cell-based therapy. In 2014, Dr Nino Fong joined Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine as Assistant Professor of Veterinary Anatomy and Immunology, and was promoted to Associate Professor in December 2017. Dr. Nino Fong teaching experience includes Veterinary Immunology, Anatomy, Bacteriology, and Principles of Infectious Diseases. He has served as course director of Immunology and Case Base studies. His research interest is immunomodulation of the immune response mediated by cytokines and the potential use of stem cell as cell-based therapy in veterinary medicine.
