How can I visit campus?
We strongly recommend that you visit campus during your college search process! You can attend an event, take a tour in-person or virtually, or participate in other experiences. To schedule a time to visit campus, click here.

When will I get an admissions decision?
You can apply to Long Island University for early action, early decision or regular decision. Admissions will notify you in accordance with the chart found on the “How to Apply” tab above.

LIU is committed to providing prospective students timely responses. The earlier you apply in the admissions cycle, the sooner you can expect an admissions decision.

How do I accept my offer of admission?
To accept your admissions offer, you should submit your $200 tuition deposit via e-payments on your MyLIU account. It is recommended you submit your deposit by May 1st to secure your spot.

Does LIU offer application fees waiver?
Yes, LIU does consider requests for an application fee waiver for students who demonstrate financial hardship. If you would like to request an application fee waiver, click here.

What should I do if I would like to request a scholarship increase?
The admissions process at Long Island University is a very personal one. Your admissions recruiter can work individually with you to review your application, scholarship offer, and determine other opportunities that you may be eligible for. Scholarship appeals are reviewed by the Scholarship Committee on a rolling basis and consider financial need, academic achievements, and extracurricular activities.

Does LIU require test scores?
While test scores are not currently required, Long Island University encourages students to submit their SAT and ACT test scores to maximize their scholarship opportunities.

What if I want to change my major after I apply?
You can change your major at any time before or after enrolling. Before enrolling, you should contact the Office of Admissions to change your major. If you have already enrolled, you should work with a Success Coach to submit a change of major form.

What is the difference between early action, early decision and regular decision?
You can identify on the Common Application or the LIU application how you would like to apply to Long Island University. If you apply early action, you will find out if you have been accepted earlier than many students but can still apply and consider other schools. If you select early decision, you will also find out if you have been accepted earlier than many students but are committed to attending LIU.

Visit the “How to Apply” tab for submission and notification dates.

What happens if I am placed on the waiting list?
We review our waiting list periodically throughout the year. We will keep you updated throughout the admissions process on your application status.

Can I defer my admissions decision to a later date?
If you wish to defer your admissions decision, please contact your Admissions Recruiter to complete the process. Your acceptance may be deferred; however, your scholarship offer will be adjusted based on the semester you enroll.
