Mental Health Counseling

The Center for Healthy Living has licensed mental health professionals and graduate student therapists on-campus to assist students. Counseling services are offered confidentially to Long Island University students during the academic year.

Services offered at the Center for Healthy Living include individual counseling, group counseling, and health and wellness campus programs. Students may also be referred to an off-campus professional for long-term care. In addition, the Center for Healthy Living supports other campuses within the LIU system, including Brooklyn, Brentwood, Hudson, Riverhead, and the Global program.

The Staff at the Center for Healthy Living provides support by helping students to:

  • Keep anxiety at bay
  • Manage moods
  • Reduce stress
  • Foster self-esteem
  • Understand gender identity
  • Resolve conflict
  • Improve communication skills
  • Cope with grief and loss
  • Express anger appropriately
  • Develop a healthy body image
  • Become resilient
  • Strengthen interpersonal relationships
  • And much more…

To schedule an initial consultation with a counselor, email post-healthyliving@liu.edu or contact 516-299-1221. In the event of an emergency, contact 911 or the Department of Public Safety 24/7/365 at 516-299-2222 who may coordinate with on-campus and off-campus mental health professionals.
