Teacher Professional Development


The LIU School of Professional Studies in partnership with Long Island University’s 20 schools of study provide scholarly and intellectually engaging opportunities for teachers and administrators. Inspiring graduate-level courses, conferences and seminars offered both in-person and online span a wide range of topics and subject areas. Each program is open to teachers from any grade level or content area and are intended to promote life-long learning for elementary and secondary school teachers and administrators. LIU awards CTLE credit, graduate credit, and professional development certificates.

 NEW IN-SERVICE CLASSES FOR 2024

The School of Professional Studies will be offering online two (15 hour) in-service classes, each for one in-service credit. One class will be ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IN THE CLASSROOM with Dr. Jared Bloom and the other is MEETING THE NEEDS OF ENGLISH LANGUAGE LEARNERS AND MULTILINGUAL LEARNERS with Dr. Wafa Deeb-Westervelt. Credit for CTLE (Continuing Teacher and Leader Education)
LIU is recognized by the New York State Education Department’s Office of Teaching Initiatives as an approved provider of CTLE for Professional Classroom Teachers, School Leaders, and Level III Teaching Assistants. LIU’s Provider number is #1522.

As CTLE and graduate credit policies vary from school district to school district, it is the responsibility of the student to ensure the LIU credits are accepted by the teacher’s individual school district.
