Program Overview

The LIU Post Psychological Services Center now offers specialized anger management services for adolescents and adults experiencing difficulties with irritability, aggression, emotional regulation, or conflict. Our program uses evidence-based cognitive-behavioral and behavioral strategies to help clients improve self-control, communication, and interpersonal functioning. Services are available for self-referral, family referral, workplace referral, and court-mandated treatment.

Treatment Approach

Our approach is grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), behavioral self-management, and emotion regulation training. Treatment focuses on:

  • Identifying triggers and early warning signs
  • Cognitive restructuring of anger thoughts
  • Relaxation strategies
  • Problem-solving and communication skills
  • Relapse prevention planning

Progress is monitored using validated behavioral and self-report measures.
