Biomedical Sciences Laboratory

The Life Science/Pell Hall Building provides abundant laboratory and lecture facilities for students pursuing degrees in the Department of Biomedical Sciences. Classroom laboratories are located in Life Sciences Rooms 355 and 340 and utilize SMART-room technology to enhance students’ experience. Life Science Room 140 is home to the well-equipped modern Forensic Science laboratory.

Radiographic Laboratory

The Medical Imaging Program features a modern digital radiographic laboratory with a fully functioning radiographic imaging unit. In addition, educational hardware and software; and a computer laboratory with desktop computers and applications dedicated to instruction in the areas of radiographic anatomy, positioning and technique, and simulated registry programs.

In addition to campus facilities, the program often utilizes conference rooms at the clinical affiliates for educational offerings. Seminars, film critique sessions and guest lecturer presentations are scheduled for students in the program.

Virtual Lab

The Health Information Management Program has recently added access to the Virtual Lab offered through AHIMA. Faculty and students will have virtual access to a full array of health information management technologies, including but not limited to a Master Patient Index (MPI), an encoder, an abstracting system, an electronic document management system (EDMS), Deficiency analysis, chart tracking, and registration/ADT system.

It is important that students receive technology training and the Virtual Lab will allow students to work with the software they will encounter in the workplace and that simulates real world application of those technologies.

Lab exercises are incorporated into specific courses and will emphasize the acquisition of skills related to the use of electronic tools to solve problems and make decisions.
