I serve as an Associate Professor and the Director of Long Island University's (LIU) Psychological Services Center (PSC), which allows me to work with second, and third-year clinical psychology, doctoral candidates. I am an ally, and as part of my responsibilities for the PSC, I provide supervision to Graduate Student Therapists (GST) that specialize in treating members of the LGBTQ+ community. I am a Clinical Psychologist and a graduate of the Postdoctoral Fellowship of The Gordan F. Derner School of Psychology at Adelphi University's Child, Adolescent, and Family Psychoanalytic program. I teach developmental psychology, child, and adolescent psychotherapy, adult psychopathology, clinical interventions, and cognitive psychology courses at the undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral levels.

I provide a neutral space for young people to express their needs and help families develop adaptive communication skills. As a diagnostician, I provide psychological testing for gifted students and those with special needs (including ADI-R and ADOS-2) who require school accommodations.

My treatment philosophy is to work collaboratively with families to provide children and adolescents with an open, empathetic, safe space to express their daily challenges. I strive to assist young people in looking for evidence of their resilience. As a Registered Play Therapy – Supervisor (RPT-S), I am dedicated to learning and teaching cutting-edge, child-focused interventions.

Specialties

With 16 years of experience as a mental health professional, I specialize in working with children, adolescents, and families. My approach employs integrative, evidence-based interventions, including CBT, ACT, and Psychodynamic therapy. Therapeutic populations include autism spectrum disorder, LGBTQ+ identity formation, chronic pain management, depression, anxiety, and behavioral issues.
