I serve as the Director of Long Island University's (LIU) Psychological Services Center (PSC) and Co-Director of Clinical Training, which allows me to work with the second, and third-year clinical psychology, doctoral candidates. I am an ally and as part of my responsibilities for the PSC, I provide supervision to Graduate Student Therapists (GST) in the Pride Healing Center (PHC), a subdivision of the PSC that specializes in treatment of members of the LGBTQ+ community.
I am a Clinical Psychologist working as a Postdoctoral Fellow for The Gordan F. Derner School of Psychology at Adelphi University's Child, Adolescent, and Family Psychoanalytic program. I teach developmental psychology, adult psychopathology, clinical interventions, and cognitive psychology courses at the undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral levels.
I provide a neutral space for young people to express their needs and help families develop adaptive communication skills. As a diagnostician, I provide psychological testing for gifted students and those with special needs who require school accommodations.
My treatment philosophy is to work collaboratively with families to provide children and adolescents an open, empathetic, safe space to express the challenges they face. I strive to assist young people in looking for evidence of their resilience. As a Registered Play Therapy – Supervisor (RPT-S), I am dedicated to learning and teaching cutting-edge, child-focused interventions.
Specialties
With 15 years of experience as a mental health professional, I specialize in working with children, adolescents, and families. My approach is employing integrative, evidence-based interventions, including CBT, ACT, and Psychodynamic therapy. Therapeutic populations include autism spectrum disorder, LGBTQ + identity formation, chronic pain management, depression, anxiety, and behavioral issues.
