The LIU Post is located in Brookville, New York, approximately 30 miles from Manhattan. The Clinical Psychology Doctoral Program, including the Psychological Services Center (PSC), is located in Lodge A and Lodge B on the Campus. Facilities include faculty and student offices, meeting rooms, classrooms, and clinical facilities for individual and group assessment and psychotherapy services.
Psychological Services Center
The Psychological Services Center is an independent community mental health facility whose purpose is to: (1) provide psychological services to the community; and (2) serve as a training facility for graduate students in the doctoral program. During the four-year residency, each doctoral candidate is required to complete a one-year externship at the PSC. The PSC is located in Lodge A.
Student Technology & Resources
First year students share offices in Lodge A (the academic building) and second year students share offices in Lodge B (The Psychological Services Center). In addition to the campus library, which has large holdings in psychology books and journals, the Doctoral Program maintains its own library of books on various topics in clinical psychology. The University also provides online access to most psychology journals. These holdings can be accessed from students’ homes or from any other computer. An extensive interlibrary loan system provides excellent access to journals that are not on the university’s subscription list. The University also has in place a campus-wide wireless network so that the internet may be accessed from a laptop anywhere on campus. Smartboards in all classrooms and many new desktop computers in Lodge A and B give students a state-of-the-art learning experience.
Clinical Psychology Doctoral students have access to all Campus amenities such as the B. Davis Schwartz Memorial Library's three-million volume collection as well as Hillwood Commons, a student union that features a 300-seat cinema, 500-seat lecture hall, dining facilities and wireless lounges.
In addition, all LIU Post students receive free membership to the Pratt Recreation Center, which has an 8-lane heated swimming pool; three full-size basketball/volleyball courts; a jogging track; two racquetball/volleyball courts; exercise bikes, treadmills, stairclimbers and rowing machines; a large multipurpose room for aerobics and exercise; and several locker rooms.
Also on campus is Tilles Center for the Performing Arts, an internationally renowned cultural facility featuring jazz, classical, popular and chamber music, Broadway shows as well as dance and theatrical performances.
