Interprofessional Simulation Center

Interprofessional Simulation Center

The LIU Post Interprofessional Simulation Center (ISC) is a state-of-the-art patient simulation center designed to improve health outcomes by providing programs that promote and enhance safe, quality healthcare through clinical competence, teamwork, and interprofessional collaboration.

The ISC occupies a vital role in enhancing students’ preparedness to practice through an experiential and collaborative approach to learning, including simulation that combines faculty-directed and independent learning. In addition, the ISC supports interdisciplinary and translational research to add to the body of knowledge on simulation, practice, technology, quality, and safety in the workplace. Using our state-of-the-art simulation equipment, students learn proper techniques, refine interprofessional skills, and build confidence in their abilities.

The LIU ISC serves as an interprofessional resource center for simulation educational activities, utilizing simulation as an aide to replicate real life clinical services. It provides a state-of-the-art simulation facility for interprofessional learning for students, educators and practicing healthcare professionals. The ISC examines the translation of interprofessional simulation education to clinical practice and its impact to patient care, while fostering interprofessional collaboration amongst healthcare professionals. While utilizing advanced digital video and audio recording systems to facilitate debriefing techniques which maximize learner performance, comprehension and retention, the ISC also develops collaborative partnerships with academic and community leaders to promote and sustain the growth of scholarly education in science, liberal arts, and technology.
