Dr. Joseph Nathan is an alumnus of the Arnold & Marie Schwartz College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, having earned a B.S. in pharmacy and an M.S. in drug information from the College. He earned his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. After practicing as a clinical pharmacist at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, Dr. Nathan joined the College’s International Drug Information Center as a drug information specialist. Currently, he is an associate professor in the Division of Pharmacy Practice and the director of the College’s International Drug Information Center. His scholarly interests focus on the availability and utilization of information resources by healthcare professionals and consumers. Dr. Nathan published numerous articles on issues affecting the practice of pharmacy, serves as a reviewer for professional publications, and has served on the advisory board of a leading pharmacy journal. Dr. Nathan served as a pharmacy consultant to a long-term-care facility and continues to practice in a community pharmacy.
Dr. Nathan’s research interests are primarily in the area of drug information. His work includes research concerning the evolution of drug information centers and drug information services, as well as evaluations of drug information resources available to pharmacists. Dr. Nathan is also interested in the health literacy of pharmacist and healthcare consumers as it relates to medications and dietary supplements. Dr. Nathan has also authored other articles which are of interest to the pharmacy community at large.
