Early Assurance Admission
Early Assurance students who complete the two-year pre-professional phase at Long Island University and meet the stated progression requirements (see below) are priority placement in the first professional year (P-3) of the Doctor of Pharmacy program. High school students must submit an application to the Office of Admissions. Candidates who specify pre-pharmacy on their application and who demonstrate academic success in high school will be offered a Guaranteed Admission, if available. Students offered priority placement in the professional phase of the Pharm.D. are expected to perform well in their pre-professional courses. The guaranteed admission to the doctoral phase of the highly selective Pharm.D. program is contingent upon the successful completion of criteria listed below.
Students who at any time discontinue eligibility for early assurance admission program will need to apply for progression through the regular admission process, which is very competitive and not guaranteed.
Regular Professional Phase Admission
Admission to LIU Pharmacy’s Pharm.D. program is both competitive and selective. Long Island University students with regular admission to the pre-professional phase and students transferring from other institutions must apply for the professional phase of the Pharm.D. program.
Admission interviews begin in July. To ensure sufficient time for the application to be reviewed, the PharmCAS application should be submitted as early as possible, minimally 5-7 weeks prior to the application deadline.
Pre-professional prerequisite coursework must be completed prior to the start of the academic semester.
