Dr. Timothy Nguyen, Pharm.D., earned his Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey (Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy) in 1996, Doctor of Pharmacy from Philadelphia College of Pharmacy in 2001, and Master in Business Administration from Long Island University in 2021. He obtained board certification in pharmacotherapy in 2011 and joined the faculty of LIU Pharmacy in 2009. His practice expertise includes pharmacy education, medicine/pharmacy, acute care, kidney disease, nephrology, dialysis and clinical pharmacology, and he maintains a clinical practice at The Mount Sinai Hospital (Mount Sinai Kidney Center) in New York City, NY. Dr. Nguyen serves as a preceptor for the PGY-1 in internal medicine pharmacy and PGY-2 in nephrology residencies at his institution and is heavily involved with research in both the pharmacy and kidney programs. His research focuses on advancing pharmacy education and nephrology pharmacy profession, nephrology and dialysis pharmacy in the areas of anemia, mineral and bone disorders, medication-related problems and chronic kidney disease. Dr. Nguyen is the founding adviser to the College’s chapter of the AMSCOP-NJPhA (New Jersey Pharmacist Association) Student Chapter.

Dr. Nguyen serves as Editor for the Prescription Pad Department for the Journal for Nurses Practitioner and a member of the Editorial Board for the same Journal (since 2012), Section Editor. Therapeutic Advances for the American Journal of Therapeutics (since 2022), and Guest Editor/Special Issue Editor for Pharmacy Journal (ISSN 2226-4787)/MDPI Publication, Pharmacists’ Role in the Management of Kidney Disease (2022), manuscript submission closed September 30, 2022.) He was the editor for the NJPhA Student Practitioner Newsletter (2012-2013) and the Hemodialysis Hook-Up newsletter at HNH’s Regional Dialysis Center Newsletter (2009-2010). He has published multiple papers related to nephrology pharmacy and pharmacy education in both nephrology and pharmacy journals.
