Community Relations

Our Community. Your University

Community RelationsWelcome to the LIU Post Office of Community Relations. Our office serves as a link between LIU Post and its neighbors in the surrounding communities--Brookville, Old Brookville, Upper Brookville and Old Westbury. The Office of Community Relations is the primary contact for individuals, community organizations and local municipalities that seek involvement with LIU Post. As a private institution of higher education, the University strives to be a good neighbor and a valued member of the community. The Campus is a valuable resource for arts and culture, intellectual development and personal enrichment. We encourage our neighbors to visit the Campus and enjoy world-class performances at the Tilles Center for Performing Arts, view impressive and eclectic art exhibits at our three art galleries which features the sculpture and painting of local artists, faculty and students, as well as educational programs incorporating Family Day activities and an extensive hands-on programs for visiting schools from the surrounding community. There is much happening at the Campus and we invite our neighbors to take advantage of all that is available to them.

Looking for intellectual stimulation? Highly anticipated each year is the Provost's Distinguished Lecture Series, featuring prominent leaders and thinkers from around the world and among the LIU Post faculty who share their experiences and expertise on topics of interest to the Long Island community.

Looking for a place to exercise your mind and body? LIU Post is nationally recognized as one of the most beautiful college campuses in the nation. The scenic campus is famous for its magnificent formal gardens, rolling green lawns and 4,000 trees -- some among the largest on Long Island. Visitors to the Campus can take a self-guided walking tour of the 40-acre Community Arboretum or the Office of Community Relations will be glad to make arrangements for a guided tour for large groups. Be sure to visit our labyrinth composed of 38,000 colorful tiles. It is a perfect place for both children and adults and provides a quiet place for meditation and contemplation.

Our office meets regularly with neighborhood associations throughout the year to promote ongoing dialogue with neighborhood leaders. In addition, our office publishes LIU Post Today, a newsletter for our neighbors in the Brookvilles and Old Westbury.

The university's contributions to quality of life, truly make LIU Post an important and engaged partner with the local community. If you have questions, please call 516-299-3500 or e-mail
