The Harriet Rothkopf Heilbrunn School of Nursing at Long Island University, Brooklyn is ideally situated in the heart of New York City which provides world-class clinical opportunities for our students. These clinical practice experiences foster future success in professional practice.
All nursing students and clinical faculty must comply with New York State Department of Health regulations. These regulations mandate annual physical examinations and documented evidence of immunity to several communicable diseases. Students must meet these requirements in addition to the University's health requirements and any additional requirements established by the healthcare agencies they may rotate to. Compliance is verified prior to beginning any clinical courses. Health requirements are current for one calendar year from the date they were completed (except for influenza vaccination which expires in September of each year). It is the responsibility of the student/faculty to ensure their health clearance and documents are current for the entire semester.
The information below will help you address these regulations and progress through your clinical experiences. Documents, clearances, and other information should be uploaded to CastleBranch (htttps://portal.castlebranch.com/lk25) by the applicable due date (August 1st for fall semester; December 1st for spring semester; and May 1st for summer semester).
Beginning with the first nursing course, students will need uniforms and assessment kits for clinical and simulation experiences.
