The Office of Academic Affairs (OAA) serves Long Island University's central mission of "access and excellence" in higher education by providing leadership in all aspects of academic life within a multicampus institution. Under the direction of the Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Office oversees the University's academic operations including all of its academic programs and libraries; new program development; program review and accreditation; student learning assessment; academic budgeting and management; faculty development and supervision; faculty appointment, re-appointment and tenure review; research grants; foundation relations; distance education; and teaching and learning initiatives.
At the beginning of each new academic year, the Office of Academic Affairs sponsors the University Faculty Orientation for new, full-time faculty members at all Long Island University campuses. This one-day event is designed to introduce new faculty members to the broader academic community and to provide an overview of the resources available to support their teaching and scholarship at the University.
