The English Language Institute at LIU Post is dedicated to helping ESL students improve their english skills and experience life at a prestigious private university.

Intensive English Program

The Intensive English Program provides English as a Second Language classes to non-English speakers who are seeking admission to LIU Post to pursue a bachelor's or master's degree.

These classes help you improve your English skills through lessons in language, speaking, reading and writing.

The Intensive English Program offers many advantages:

  • Small classes of 12 to 15 students taught by caring, expert teachers
  • A convenient Monday through Thursday schedule with classes in writing, reading, listening, speaking, grammar and college preparation
  • State-of-the-art learning facilities

Room & Board

On Campus Housing

About 1,200 students make their home at LIU Post and reside in eight residence halls. Residence halls include three-and four bedroom suites and standard double and triple rooms. Our residential complex is located within easy walking distance of academic buildings, the Winnick Student Center, Hillwood Commons and the Pratt Recreation Center.

Medical Forms & Health Insurance

Medical Forms

All international students must submit a medical form.

  • If you plan to live on campus in a residence hall, click on Report of Health Evaluation and Medical History. Follow the instructions on this form.
  • If you plan to live off campus, click on Immunization History. Follow the instructions on this form.

Health Insurance

All F-1 students must have health insurance. If you have health insurance, you must submit proof of insurance and complete a waiver form when you arrive on campus. If you do not have health insurance, you must purchase it through the university.

How to Apply

Step One

Fill out our online application for the Intensive English Program

Step Two

Submit appropriate I-20 form(s) found here.

Step Three

Submit the following documents to the English Language Institute. 

  • Program Application/Personal statement
  • I-20 Application
  • A copy of your passport
  • A copy of your high school or college transcripts
  • A non-refundable tuition deposit of $200, payable to Long Island University
  • A completed Medical Form
