DEPARTMENT OF SPECIAL EDUCATION AND LITERACY
Today's special education teachers and literacy specialists are expected to maintain the highest standards as they create effective learning environments for mentally handicapped, emotionally disturbed, and learning disabled students. LIU Brentwood’s Special Education and Literacy Department provides four Master of Science degree programs that will prepare you to identify students in need of corrective and remedial instruction, to develop reading and written communications curricula, and to evaluate student progress. We prepare you for New York State certification as special education teachers and literacy specialists.
