About the Department of Music at C.W. Post
Set high on a hill overlooking Long Island Sound, the Fine Arts Center houses the Department of Music of the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University, creating an intimate, conservatory-like atmosphere within the framework of a large university campus of 6,000 students. The quality of our programs plus the rural beauty of the campus within a close proximity to New York City, has served as a major attraction for prospective students.

The Department of Music offers students one of the more comprehensive and challenging music programs in the New York metropolitan area. The seventy-three members of the Music Faculty, most of whom lead an active, professional performance schedule themselves, provide a solid foundation in Music Theory and Composition, Music History and Literature, Music Education, and Performance. In addition, the Department of Music offers a variety of performance opportunities, including solo student recitals, workshops, master classes, and concerts in many of the major concert halls in New York City.
