The C.W. Post Madrigal Singers as directed by Jeffrey Johnson is an outstanding ensemble dedicated to European vocal music of the Early Modern period (the Middle Ages and the Renaissance). Attired in period costume, the ensemble brings an air of elegance and intimacy which embody the essence of the madrigal form. The depth of the C.W. Post Early Music area is enhanced by the inclusion of the Merriweather Consort, an instrumental ensemble which plays on instruments which are replicas of those found in the Renaissance period. The C.W. Post Madrigal Singers and the Merriweather Consort perform together several times each season in the Greater New York area. Both groups have appeared on tour in the United States, Mexico, Europe and Asia, where they have received critical acclaim.
