Long Island University Chamber SingersThe Long Island University Chamber Singers, under the direction of Alexander Dashnaw, has presented concerts in churches, schools and recital and concert halls throughout Europe, North Africa, Mexico, Canada, Korea, and the United States. Since 1971, they have made sixteen concert tours of Europe, singing from Galway to Prague, Berlin to Rome, and Amsterdam to Madrid and Rabat. The Chamber Singers have had the distinction of being invited to perform for the New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA), the New York State Choral Guild, the Music Educators National Conference (MENC), and at both regional and national conventions of the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA). They have twice made broadcasts on RadioVatican in Rome, have appeared before an estimated audience of 22 million viewers on "Hoy Mismo" (Mexico's "Today" show) in Mexico City, and have received critical acclaim for concerts in Carnegie Hall, Weill Hall, Alice Tully Hall and the Kennedy Center. In May 1996, the Chamber Singers made a 15-day tour of South Korea, their first concert tour to the far east. In May of 2000, they toured Italy, interacting with local choirs and communities, performing seven concerts from Rome to the northern town of Strezza and in 2002 they made a tour of eastern Canada.
