David Holzman, a member of the C.W.
Post Department of Music faculty, has released his latest CD, a collection of works by Stefan Wolpe.
The CD, titled "Stefan Wolpe: Compositions for Piano (1920-1952), contains seven works by Wolpe including three premiere recordings and Mr. Holzman's second recording of "Battle Piece." (Holzman's first recording of "Battle Piece" was part of an LP about which Peter G. Davis of New York Magazine wrote, "Mr. Holzman's recital on Composers' Recordings is one of the great piano discs of the decade...")

To learn more about Stefan Wolpe and the 1902-2002 Centenary Celebration of his birth, please visit the Stefan Wolpe Society. Mr Wolpe was the first chairman of the Department of Music at C.W. Post.
Update: For this CD, Mr. Holzman received a 2003 AFIM Indie Award from the Association for Independent Music in the Classical category and a Grammy Award nomination in the category of Best Classical Instrumental Soloist Performance (without Orchestra). Congratulations David!
Additional Update: For the liner notes to this CD, Mr. Holzman has won an ASCAP Deems Taylor Award from The American Society of Composers, Authors & Publishers. Again, Congratulations David!
