FACULTY
Christine Kerr, Ph.D., A.T.R.-BC, C.G.P., LCAT, Director of Art Therapy Programs, has been a practicing clinical art therapist since 1974, with 31 years of clinical experience. She is a board certified clinical art therapist and currently is certified as a Group Psychotherapist. Dr. Kerr's main focus is the clinical application of art psychotherapy with adult populations; including but not limited to, affective disorders, addictions, eating disorders, dissociative disorders, and family therapy.
Dr. Kerr is a consultant for eating disorders and maintains an active private practice. She has published research articles on art therapy with the elderly, family therapy and dissociative disorders. Dr. Kerr has lectured nationally and internationally on adult disorders.
It is with great pleasure that the Long Island University at C.W. Post Clinical Art Therapy Program announces a seminal new textbook in Family Art Therapy entitled Family Art Therapy in Process and Theory published by Taylor-Rutledge, available July 2007 (245pages). Dr. Kerr has a wealth of experience and knowledge in family practice and family art therapy. Dr. Kerr has spearheaded this new text and is the major contributor in this important volume.
David Henley, Ph.D., A.T.R., is Professor of Art and Art Therapy, Long Island University, C.W. Post Campus. Presently, he practices art therapy at the Drs. Hecht Psychological Services, Clinton, New Jersey, where he specializes in children. Dr. Henley is the author of numerous articles, and an art education text, “Exceptional Children, Exceptional Art”, Davis Publications and the forthcoming, "Clayworks in Art Therapy", 2002, Jessica Kingsley. Dr. Henley holds certification in art education and special education, with over twenty years of practicing art education in public and independent schools.
Seung Lee is a painter and installation artist. His paintings, drawings, and large-scale installations have been exhibited extensively in the U.S. as well as internationally. He has received numerous reviews in the New York Times, Newsday, Art World magazine and is included in "Artist Profiles of Korea and Japan." Seung has recently been appointed Director of Fine Art and Graduate Studies at C.W. Post.
Susan E. Antelis, MPS, ATR-BC, BCIA-C, LMHC, LCAT, has been in the field of health care for 30 years. Susan is a Registered, Board Certified and Licensed Creative Arts Therapist, Credentialed Member of the American Art Therapy Assoc. and the NY Art Therapy Assoc., Licensed Mental Health Counselor and holds a Diplomate from the American Psychotherapy Assoc. She is also a NY State licensed Art Educator and a graduate of Brooklyn College’s Fine Arts Program and Pratt Institute’s Art Therapy Masters Program. She is pleased to be part of the Adjunct faculty at C.W. Post where she supervises Thesis students and teaches Internship Practicum. Susan has worked in a variety of psychiatric settings and with varied populations. Her specialty is combining Art Therapy with Mind-Body therapies such as biofeedback, meditation, visualization and relaxation techniques for symptom and stress management. She especially enjoys working with children and adolescents. Susan's personal art form is Soul Collage. She offers Soul Collage workshops and Supervision for License eligible Art Therapists. Susan also holds a Certification in Biofeedback, mentors Biofeedback students and has a private practice on Long Island's South Shore in Lynbrook. Susan's work has been documented on television and radio, and in many local, national and regional articles for magazines and newspapers.
Tracy Arnold Warzer, MA, ATR-BC: is a Registered and Board-Certified Art Therapist and Director of the Creative Arts Studio of Sea Cliff, an expressive arts studio for children and adults which focuses on therapeutic art-making, creativity development and community-building. She also implements art residencies in schools (K-12) which incorporates collaborative art-making experiences with community-building values such as tolerance, friendship, respect, and activities which support self-esteem and self-concept development. Her programs are listed with BOCES Arts In Education school referral service. She is a Professional, Credentialed Member of the American Art Therapy Association, and New York Art Therapy Association. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Visual and Performing Arts, Long Island University, 1986, and Master's degree in Clinical Art Therapy, Long Island University, 1989. She is an Adjunct Professor in the Clinical Art Therapy programs at C.W. Post Campus of L.I.U., and is a mixed-media artist who combines photo transfer technology, with drawing, painting, and collage, and creates found object sculptures.
Beth Gonzalez-Dolginko, MPS, ATR-BC: is a licensed Creative Arts Therapist and Licensed Psychoanalyst in New York State. She has 32 years of clinical experience in a variety of settings. Now at LIU-CW Post, she additionally has 24 years of higher education experience at Pratt Institute, School of Visual Arts, College of New Rochelle, St. Joseph’s College and Hofstra University and has been a Visiting Instructor at Mountmary College and Vermont College. She currently is working on her dissertation about art therapy in schools, works as a staff therapist in psychiatry at Huntington Hospital, is in private practice and is active with the New York Licensure Board.
Bobbie Kaufman, ATR-BC, LSAT, a licensed, board certified art psychotherapist, has worked in both public mental health and private practice for 30 years. She currently practices art psychotherapy in Southampton and Riverhead where she specializes in treating adult and child survivors of sexual abuse, dissociate disorders, as well as adoption, individual, couple and family issues. Ms. Kaufman is co-author of two books Silent Screams and Hidden Cries and Causalities of Childhood. Bobbie co-founded and co-chairs the Long Island Committee on Sexual Abuse and Family Violence and is a member of the Suffolk County Advisory Committee on Child Protection and is on the steering committee for the annual East End Mental Health Programs for the last six years. She has also been at The Pederson-Krag’s Continuing Day Treatment Program for 9 years. She began her career in 1977 working for the New York State Office of Mental Health. Ms. Kaufman was also an Assistant Professor at Hofstra University in the Art Therapy program for 9 years. Bobbie has presented numerous workshops throughout the United States on Art Therapy and Sexual Abuse. Ms. Kaufman is the receipt of The People in Recovery Choice Award from the Suffolk County Mental Health Association and New York State Office of Mental Health Pioneers Award.
DeeDee Lictenberg-Scanlan MCAT, A.T.R.-BC, graduated from Hahnemann Medical College with a Master's degree in Creative Art Therapies. This was an innovative degree twenty-five years ago when it proposed a team approach utilizing all of the creative therapies (dance, music, art) in conjunction with the more main stream psychotherapeutic modalities. In Philadelphia she had the unique experience to work with a number of institutions who were forerunners in integrating alternative therapies. DeeDee has been fortunate to work with many populations and age groups in a variety of organizations and institutions, (Chester-Crozier Hospital Psychiatric Unit, Carrier Clinic, The Wood School, United Cerebral Palsy of NYC and Suffolk County, the Sid Jacobson JCC). Her professional philosophy is to use art both diagnostically and therapeutically, and she believes that we have just started to see the magic and benefit of the arts in our society.
Naomi Schwartz, MA, ATR-BC, LCAT is a licensed, board certified, registered art therapist. She is presently an Adjunct Professor and serves as Internship Coordinator in the Clinical Art Therapy program at C.W. Post, Long Island University. She is also currently employed as a primary counselor specializing in creative arts therapy in the children’s program at VIBS (Victim’s Information Bureau of Suffolk), where she works with children who have suffered trauma witnessing or being victims of domestic violence. She has also worked in a variety of psychiatric and educational settings, and maintains a private practice with clients who have suffered traumatic brain injuries. Ms. Schwartz is a professional member of AATA and NYATA, and is a prize winning watercolor painter of the Independent Art Society of Long Island
Dr. Tobi Zausner: Dr. Zausner has an interdisciplinary PhD. in art and psychology. She is an award-winning artist with permanent collections throughout major art museums in New York City and collections worldwide. Dr. Zausner is also an art historian. Additionally, Dr. Zausner was the chair of art history for the Society for Chaos Theory in Psychology. Dr. Zausner teaches at the C.J. Jung Foundation. She has also taught at the New School in New York City. Dr. Zausner has authored numerous seminal books in the area of art and psychology. Her current book reviewed by the New York Times is called When Walls become Doorways.
