Harmonizing With Legends

Current students and alumni of LIU Post’s Long Island Sound Vocal Jazz (LISVJ) ensemble united to perform backup vocals for Barry Manilow on his hit songs "Copacabana" and "I Write the Songs" at his concert at the Prudential Center in New Jersey on Sunday, June 14.

Game On!

At the spring 2015 Game Show, Digital Game Design student Scott Tongue exhibited his game, Vistics, which utilizes an Oculus Rift virtual reality display headset that allows the player to explore the inner workings of the game world by moving around the environment in a 2.5D virtual reality platform.

Don’t miss Larry Kramer in Love and Anger, a documentary by Jean Carlomusto, professor of Media Arts and director of the Television Center, now streaming on HBO. Read about Professor Carlomusto’s experience making the film and at the Sundance Film Festival in LIU Magazine.

Supporting Cast

WLIW New York will broadcast feature-length films and interviews with Department of Film alumni Gia McKenna '10 and Robert LaRosa '12, and current student Henry Arroyo, whose film, My Friend John, was recently accepted into the Long Island International Film Festival.

Integration with LIU’s Tilles Center for the Performing Arts offers young artists opportunities to participate in interactive experiences like master classes, workshops, and residencies with the internationally acclaimed musicians, dance companies, and theatre companies. Recent artists who have worked with our students include: Wynton Marsalis (pictured), Pilobolus, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre, the New York Philharmonic Orchestra, jazz artist Paquito D’Rivera, and cellist Yo-Yo Ma.
