John Eagan, Criminal Justice Major, Class of 2012
His mission was to protect his country, and as a dedicated sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps, John Eagan did so with honor for nine years. Today, his focus has shifted from the combat zone to the college campus. John is enrolled in the 129-credit Bachelor of Arts degree program in Criminal Justice at LIU POST, a private university located in Brookville, N.Y. With tuition assistance from the Yellow Ribbon Program, Eagan is preparing for a career in law enforcement and criminal justice.
"The Criminal Justice Department is great, with a very diverse and experienced staff," says Eagan. "I am inspired by my professors' personal accounts and stories." He adds: "Through the university's Veteran and Military Affairs Office, I am receiving tremendous support. LIU Post helps veterans like me transition to civilian careers."
