Founded in 1973, the International Drug Information Center (IDIC) of LIU Pharmacy provides evidence-based, up-to-date, accurate, and unbiased information about pharmaceuticals and dietary supplements to a varied client base including pharmacists, physicians, nurses, other healthcare professionals, select consumer groups, pharmaceutical companies, attorneys, law enforcement agencies, pharmacy benefit managers, poison control centers, and other institutional and organizational clientele. Additionally, the IDIC provides informational support to LIU Pharmacy faculty and preceptors.
The IDIC also serves as a training site for student pharmacists. Under the supervision and guidance of the IDIC staff, students participate in researching and responding to questions received by the Center.
The IDIC maintains a comprehensive library of resources containing information on U.S., foreign, and investigational products, as well as information on dietary supplements and herbal remedies.
The IDIC staff are experienced in fulfilling a wide variety of requests for drug information. Typical inquiries may encompass one of the following categories:

As a courtesy, the IDIC responds to drug information inquiries received from the LIU community, as well as LIU Pharmacy’s affiliated practice sites.
Pharmacies are welcome to subscribe to our service for a low annual fee. In addition, other organizational subscriptions (e.g., physician groups, clinics) are available. To become a subscriber or request a special project, please contact us for additional information.
The IDIC is staffed by drug information specialists who hold faculty appointments at LIU Pharmacy and who are experienced in retrieving and evaluating the medical and pharmacy literature. The IDIC staff regularly contribute to the body of scientific literature as it relates specifically to the field of drug information and globally to pharmacy practice.
The IDIC is a part of LIU Pharmacy and is located on the fourth floor of the Library Learning Center, in room LLC 405.
