TO: The Long Island University Community

On behalf of the University-Wide Middle States Steering Committee, we are pleased to announce that the Long Island University 2002/2003 Decennial Self-Study: Excellence and Access, prepared as part of our Middle States accreditation review process, is now available.

Copies of this five-volume document are available for public review in your campus library, your academic department or division office, and in your dean’s or associate provost’s office. Faculty members may pick up a personal copy at their campus library.

All of us owe a debt of gratitude to the hundreds of faculty, administrators, staff, students, alumni, trustees and community representatives across the University who have contributed so generously to the success of this project. The self-study report contains valuable insights about our progress as a University over the past decade and the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. We know you will find the report useful and invite you to read it carefully.

The 14-member Middle States Evaluation Team includes distinguished colleagues from sister institutions around the Middle States region and is chaired by Dr. Cornelius Kerwin, Provost of American University. The Team will be visiting Long Island University and conducting interviews on the campuses from March 23 through March 26. An exit interview briefing will be held by the Team for the entire University Community at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 26, at the Hillwood Lecture Hall on the C.W. Post Campus. Bus transportation will be provided from the Brooklyn and Southampton College Campuses for those who wish to attend, and lunch will be served after the briefing. We look forward to seeing many of you there.

Sincerely,

Jeffrey Kane

Vice President for
Academic Affairs

R. H. Red Owl

NOTE:
The time of the exit briefing has been changed to 1:30 p.m. at the same location. The lunch originally scheduled to follow the event has been cancelled.
