Effective immediately, we welcome and encourage you to post personal and course-based web pages on phoenix.liu.edu. To obtain an account on this system, LIU Employees should contact the Office of Information Technology on your campus. An account on this system provides you with access to a Unix host where you can post your web pages and is also a place to receive your mail under the new e-mail addressing standards adopted at Long Island University (http://www.liu.edu/it/email).

Using these services on phoenix.liu.edu, you agree to abide by the general community standards associated with the educational mission of the University. In addition you agree to follow these specific guidelines:

• This site is for the posting of course materials and personal web pages
• No pornography, profanity or otherwise sensitive materials are to be posted
• The site is not to be used in conjunction with any illegal activities
• The site is not to be used for any commercial purpose, such as private consulting or a personal business or to promote commercial enterprise of any sort
• No material that defames or compromises the privacy of another community member may be posted.
• Web pages containing division, department and program information may not be published on the phoenix.liu.edu server. This restriction is in keeping with the Web Page Procedures and Standards adopted by the LIU Officers November 22, 1996. To publish web pages containing division, department and program information, follow your department's procedure. Contact your campus Webmaster if you are unsure about how to proceed.
• Web pages for Campus clubs, organizations etc. also may not be published on the phoenix.liu.edu server. Contact the campus Webmaster regarding publication of these pages.
• In conjunction with the University's Counsel the Office of Information Technology staff reserves the right to review material on this server and determine its adherence to these guidelines.
