This page will be updated regularly with additional information, answers to frequently asked questions and help concerning the changes in e-mail services.  Please contact your campus Office of Information Technology if you have any questions or concerns regarding your e-mail.

Configure an email program to access LIU mail on campus.  Also access LIU mail off-campus using an ISP (Internet Service Provider) like AOL, IBM.Net, AT&T WorldNet etc.

Distribution lists are a way to send a mail message to several people in your email addressbook at once. 

Mailing Lists

Mailing lists are a way for people interested in a particular topic to subscribe (join) a list about that particular topic and post (send) email messages to others also interested in the same topic.

Set your account to automatically forward all email messages to another account.

Titan Email Migration

Email accounts on the Titan system will expire October 31, 1999. Any remaining Titan users should download any files they wish to keep from Titan  prior to October 31, 1999.

Beginning with Fall 1999, student accounts will be generated automatically each semester within the first week of classes. Registered students will find their username, password, email address and host system listed in their Student Information System (SIS) profile. Students can use a web browser like Netscape Navigator to go to http://sis.liunet.edu/stinfo/stinfo.signon and look up their new username, new password and new email address from anywhere on the World Wide Web.

Faculty and staff should visit their campus Information Technology office and complete an Account Request Form to obtain an account on the Phoenix system.

Hornet Email Migration

Email accounts on the Hornet system will expire October 31, 1999. Any remaining Hornet users should download any files they wish to keep from Hornet  prior to October 31, 1999.

Eagle Email Migration for Faculty, Staff and Administrator

Email on eagle.liu.edu will shut down on July 1, 1998 as part of a university-wide email reorganization.  Eagle users must get a new account on phoenix.liu.edu as soon as possible. To obtain a phoenix.liu.edu account, please go to your Information Technology office and complete the Faculty & Staff e-mail/WWW Publishing account request form.

Once your account request form has been received and your phoenix.liu.edu account has been created, you will be notified of the new mail address, the new password and what to do.  The new email address will be simplified to 'username@liu.edu'. However, email that has been sent to your Eagle email address will continue to be forwarded to your new address for a limited time. Please contact your Office of Information Technology if you have any questions or concerns regarding your e-mail.

Aurora Email Migration for Faculty, Staff and Administrators

In keeping with the university-wide e-mail re-organization, E-mail services on AURORA will shutdown in late Fall 1998.  Please note, THIS ONLY AFFECTS E-Mail.

ALL OTHER APPLICATIONS WILL  REMAIN IN PLACE - (SPSS, SAS, etc...)

Employees who recieve email on Aurora must get a new account on PHOENIX as soon as possible. Students who receive email must get a new account on their campus email system (e.g. hornet, titan, shark).

To obtain your account please go to your Information Technology office with your LIU ID card and complete the appropriate account request form.  Once your account request form has been received and your PHOENIX account has been created, you will be notified of your new mail address, the new password and what to do.

For a limited time, Aurora mail will be forwarded to the new Phoenix address. Please contact your Information Technology office if you have any questions or concerns regarding your e-mail.
