Title: Weekend Systems Operator

Position Description:
This position requires an IT professional with a customer-centered focus to contribute to creating a positive support environment for all members of the campus community. This position is primarily responsible for providing timely service and on-going support for the University-wide systems operations. This position reports to the Director of University Systems.
Responsibilities:
- Providing courteous, professional customer service support to users in need of technical assistance
- Diagnosing, troubleshooting and repairing hardware and software problems within system operations as needed
- Completing timely system-based reporting and batch processes as scheduled
- Installing, maintaining and upgrading hardware and software for system operations; Occasional physical labor required
- Maintaining knowledge of changing technologies
- Monitor and maintain log files of all Windows and Linux based systems
- Responsible for monitoring all PeopleSoft batch processes and completing daily run sheets on the status of these processes
- Monitor the University Intrusion Detection System and document and report all critical incidents
- Candidate will be required to answer and document weekend and evening Helpdesk calls received at the Network Operations Center
- Flexible hours required, including weekends and evenings. This is a second shift and weekend position.
Qualifications:
- Outstanding customer service, communication, and phone skills a must
- Expert proficiency in installing, configuring and troubleshooting Windows 2000/2003 based systems
- Broad based knowledge of computing technologies, including TCP/IP and other networking technologies
- Expert technical experience with additional Windows Server components, including IIS, DNS, Group Policy, DHCP and SQL Server
- Must be experienced in troubleshooting Active Directory and Microsoft Exchange 2003/2007 systems
- Familiarity with PeopleSoft batch processes and Process Scheduler is required
- Knowledge of Red Hat Enterprise Linux systems is a plus
- Experience in a college or university environment
- Ability to complete projects both independently and as a team player
- Familiarity with networking/systems terminology and principles, including PeopleSoft.
