WebCT

The University is now using WebCT Campus Edition version 6 to provide online course materials to students. WebCT allows faculty to create dynamic learning environments including electronic grade books, discussion boards, online quizzes and surveys, etc.

Training on using WebCT is offered throughout the year, and on an as-needed basis. Please contact the FTRC for an appointment: email | ext. 3636.

The Faculty Technology Resource Center, located in Room 222 of the Schwartz Library, is available to answer your questions .

Getting Started with WebCT – Guide for Faculty

  • Enter a separate request for each course you plan to teach using WebCT.
    • Fill in the information and click SUBMIT. You should receive an e-mail from IT within a few days with your user ID and Password (if your new to WebCT) and/or course information.
    • You can access your new WebCT course from any computer with an Internet connection, whether on or off campus.
    • Login to WebCt at the following page: http://webct.liu.edu
    • Faculty login:
    • All faculty WebCT IDs and passwords are stored in the active directory, and are the same as you currently use to access your University email on WebOutlook. If you change your active directory password on WebOutlook, this will also change your WebCT password.
    • Secure passwords usually do not contain: your personal information (such as your name, phone number, birthday etc.) or words that are in the dictionary.
    • A secure password should include a mixture of letters and numbers.
  • All student rosters are added to your WebCT courses on the first day of the semester and just after the add-drop deadline, to ensure that the most up-to-date roster is loaded.
  • If you need your roster updated because of significant drop/adds of students, contact the FTRC at ext. 3636 or email ftrc@cwpost.liu.edu.
