Web Enhanced University
Virtual Classrooms are up and running for many classes throughout the university. These Web Enhanced courses range from simple text versions of the class syllabus to sites that have interactive chat rooms and online PowerPoint presentations. In addit ion to the standard Internet tool set we also have Usenet News, Listservs and a RealPlayer server for recorded audio and video content. Workshops
Workshop schedules are now available on the LIU homepage at www.liu.edu/act.htm Not only are the schedules now available to you online, but in some cases you may also view the curriculum, download class materials and prepare in advance to make the most of our class time together. Workshop schedules will also be distributed via regular interoffice mail.

Internet Suite and McAfee Virus Protection
ACT believes every computer should have several programs installed that make up the "Internet Suite". These programs will enable you to get the most from using the Internet. These software programs are

The newest versions of McAfee Virus Protection for your computer are available directly from our home page at http://www.liu.edu, choose FTP. It is very important to not only update your virus data file, but also to update to the newest versions of McAfee. Some of the most recent viruses can not be completely removed from your computer with earlier versions of McAfee.

Staff Changes
Michele Stafford has joined the C.W. Post Campus as Faculty Liaison, her name may sound familiar because she has recently transferred to this campus from the Southampton. Her years of experience within the university will be a great asset to the depar tment. Thomas Urbanik, formally of the Aspect program, recently began work as a PC/LAN Technician within ACT. He is sure to grow with the department as you come to rely and depend on him for support in the evenings and on weekends.

Miscellaneous
We continue to offer Internet Service through the IBM ICE program and Hamptons Online. Memos outlining procedures to join will come around shortly via interoffice mail. Online you can find information at the ACT web site at www.liu.edu/search/ibm.htm.. The E-mail address directory is growing. In addition there will soon be a new directory that includes department, telephone and e-mail addresses throughout the university for access via the university Intranet.
