SUBJECT: Student E-mail Account Upgrade and Email Backup Procedure

We are improving the MyCampus email system for the starting in the Fall 2004 semesters. Due to this major upgrade, all email accounts will be erased. New email accounts will be created to ALL registered students for the Fall 2004 semester. We will need for ALL MYCAMPUS USERS to backup their respective email account inboxes, folders and address books.

The new e-mail format will be easier to use and remember. The email address will be as follows: FIRSTNAME.LASTNAME@brooklyn.liu.edu (Jane.Doe@brooklyn.liu.edu). Duplicate names will contain a number at the end of the last name (Jane.Doe2@brooklyn.liu.edu). Logins will share the email format of FIRSTNAME.LASTNAME (Jane.Doe). All students will need to login to their new accounts in order to activate their account.

This e-mail account will be an official form of correspondence for University news, events and other important business. It is expected that you read the e-mail sent to your student account regularly as it will be used to distribute important campus notices. If you prefer to use an outside e-mail account, you may set to have your LIU e-mail automatically forwarded to an outside e-mail account.

Among the benefits of the upgrade will be to be able to have a single sign on process for the current Student Information Systems (SIS) and any future online student services.

The upgrade will be effective August 30, 2004. Accounts will no longer be accessible after this date. A link will be added to the SIS login page that will allow students to lookup their new e-mail address.

The email and address book backup procedure can be found on:

Thank you for your time and patience on this matter.
