What is POP mail?
Post Office Protocol or POP is the way email software programs
like Netscape, Outlook and Eudora mail send email messages to and
receive email messages from LIU's email servers.
On Campus
Students in their dorm rooms and faculty and staff in their offices,
who have Ethernet adapters in their computers and network ports
in their rooms/offices, can connect directly to the campus network,
the Internet and the University's email servers. Please contact
your local campus Information Technology office if you need information
about connecting to the campus network.
Off Campus
You can also use POP to access your LIU email off campus. First,
you use your computer's modem to dial into your Internet Service
Provider (ISP). Then you can use your favorite email software like
Outlook Express or Netscape mail. More Information
