Long Island University began holding classes on the former Marjorie Merriweather Post estate in Brookville on October 24, 1951. Here, the first 33 students enter the Great Hall for an economics class. The campus was officially named and founded as the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University on Nov. 26, 1954. By that time, attendance had grown to 102 men, 19 women, and eight faculty members. |
