In 1934 Marjorie Merriweather Post gave her eldest daughter, Adelaide,
73 of the 177 acres of the Brookville estate. The acreage included the
house built for Adelaide in 1928 (now the Admissions Office), some of
the estate outer buildings, the horse stable and a corral. Adelaide was
a fine equestrian and breeder of prize horses. In 1993 her colt, Woods
of Windsor, competed in the Preakness Race held at Pimlico Racetrack in
Baltimore, Maryland.
