1-2-3 TEACH Program - Accelerated Teaching Certification Program

2004-2005

1-2-3 TEACH leads to a full-time teaching position in a high need elementary or middle school in as little as one-year and a master’s degree in Childhood Education by the end of two years. Only a small number of very well qualified and highly-motivated students are accepted into this program.

You are now eligible for an Internship Certificate, which will enable you to be employed as a certified teacher by the NYC (New York City) school system.

- Successfully complete the ATS-W* part of the NYS (New York State) -Teacher Certification Exam
- Get Fingerprinted
- Complete NYC Paperwork
- Submit portfolio (first submission) for the master’s degree

- You are now eligible for a Master’s Degree (September 2006 graduate) and NYS Initial Certification.
- You will be eligible for a NYS Professional Certificate after one additional year of teaching.

1-2-3 TEACH is a serious academic and professional commitment. The program must be followed as outlined above. If you foresee other commitments that will prevent you from following the above program, you may want to choose a more conventional master’s program, which typically includes a traditional student teaching experience and which allows you to receive a NYS Initial teaching certificate after all program requirements are completed.
