News, Sports and Talk
WCWP offers C.W. Post students an opportunity to learn and practice broadcast journalism. Students have the privilege to explore various jobs in news, sports and talk show programming. News enthusiasts can learn to become reporters, writers, anchors and digital audio editors enabling them to deliver news in a timely fashion to our listeners. Students interested in sports can learn by doing play-by-play, color commentary, field reporting and more. WCWP provides live game coverage of the C.W. Post Pioneer football season. In addition, WebRadio WCWP broadcasts over the internet C.W. Post Pioneer men’s and women’s basketball games; select Pioneer baseball and softball games including the NYCAC Softball championships. WebRadio WCWP also broadcasts local high school basketball games and the Nassau County high school championship games. Students also produce and host talk shows each weekday evening covering topics including news, sports, and politics. A leader in internet broadcasting, WebRadio WCWP gives students access to unlimited possibilities to learn and practice the craft of radio broadcasting.
As an associate member of National Public Radio (NPR), WCWP/88.1 FM broadcasts hourly NPR news updates. Listeners can also receive news and information from such NPR programs as "Morning Edition" and from Public Radio International's "Marketplace," PBS's "News Hour with Jim Lehrer," and the BBC's World Service.
