About C.W. Post
The campus was founded by Long Island University in 1954 to accommodate the educational needs of World War II veterans living in Nassau County. The C.W. Post Campus, which is rich in history, is located on Long Island's famed Gold Coast, on the former Brookville estate of cereal heiress and socialite Marjorie Merriweather Post. The campus was named for Mrs. Post's father, the founder of the Post Cereal Company (now a division of Kraft Foods, Inc.). In building his cereal empire, Charles William Post embodied ingenuity, determination and courage - qualities that are living inspirations for the University's faculty and students.
The C.W. Post Campus is distinguished by programs of excellence with small classes in business, education, computer science, public administration, health professions and nursing, information studies, visual and per forming arts, and liberal arts and sciences. The wooded suburban campus, only 20 miles from New York City, is home to the renowned Tilles Center for the Performing Arts, Hillwood Art Museum and WCWP-FM, a Long Island University Public Radio Network station. C.W. Post offers the Ph.D. in information studies and the Psy.D. in clinical psychology. The Campus also provides an array of health and fitness resources, including the ultra-modern Pratt Recreation Center.
