C.W. Post Offers 22 New Scholarships
for Freshman and Transfer Students
October 20, 1998 - The C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University in
Brookville is offering 22 new undergraduate scholarships in 11 academic
areas including Accounting, Business (finance, management and marketing),
Chemistry, Dance, Education, Electronic Journalism, Health Information
Management, Information Transfer, Math/Physics, Medical Biology, and Pre-Law.
While the scholarships are open to students from across the country,
the academic areas were chosen for their potential to meet the future needs
of Long Island's economy. "Since America looks to universities to
prepare the future workforce, we are acknowledging our obligation to educate
and provide the Long Island community with skilled personnel in these vital
areas," said Gary R. Bergman, Associate Provost for Enrollment Services.
New incoming freshman and college transfer students are welcome to apply.
The deadline for applications is March 15, 1999. New freshman who apply
are required to have a SAT composite of at least 1000; transfer students
must have a B average, (3.0 out of a 4.0 grade point average) in all previous
school work. A student's extracurricular activities, leadership achievements
and academic awards will also be considered.
The scholarships are renewable for four years for a maximum total of
$8,000 ($3,000 for transfer students); a 3.0 or higher grade point average
must be maintained each semester to meet eligibility requirements. The
scholarships take effect in the fall 1999 semester, which begins in September.
