C.W. Post Homecoming Celebration Set for October 14-17,
1998
The C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University in Brookville will celebrate
its annual Homecoming beginning
Wednesday, October 14 and culminating on Saturday, October 17, 1998.
The festivities commence on Wednesday, October 14 with two C.W. Post
teams in action. The men's soccer team takes on its town rival New York
Institute of Technology at 3 p.m. on the Men's Soccer Field. Later that
evening the Women's Volleyball team faces regional rival Concordia at Conolly
Gymnasium at 7:30 p.m.
The public is invited to attend all homecoming events on Saturday, October
17 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. including a free carnival with rides and games
and a chance to ride on a hot air balloon. Family activities throughout
the day include jewelry making, face painting and pumpkin carving.
The C.W. Post Pioneers, led by new head football coach Bryan Collins,
will face off against the Merrimack College Warriors at Hickox Field. Kick-off
is scheduled for 1 p.m.
At half-time, the C.W. Post cheerleaders and kickline dancers will perform
for the crowd. A barbecue begins at 11 a.m. Admission is $12 and includes
an all-you-can-eat barbecue and a ticket to the game. $5 tickets are also
available for game admission only.
Immediately after the game, all paying spectators will have the chance
to win a new pick-up truck by kicking a football 35 yards into a standard-size
