Great Italian Artist Emilio Baracco to Exhibit Work in Hutchins Gallery
November 19-December 20
The Hutchins Gallery, located on the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University, is proud to present a solo exhibition of the well-known Italian artist Emilio Baracco, who resides and works in Padova, Italy. The artist will be present at the opening reception on Wednesday, November 19, 2008 from 5-7 p.m. The exhibit continues until December 20, 2008.
The exhibition, titled “ARMONICA-MENTE,” consists of series of recent sculptures, drawings and graphics that have their origins in surrealism and metaphysics. The poetry in Baracco’s figures is essential to his humanity. His symbols and metaphors are in a transformation, a metamorphose combining the future and the past.
Emilio Baracco has been making art for more than 40 years. As a young man he worked as an apprentice in sculpture under Amleto Sartori. Formally he studied and received a degree at the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice, Italy under the famous artist, Alberto Viani. He also successfully completed advance printmaking courses in Urbino, Italy and is a member of The Association of Venetian Printmakers. Mr. Baracco also finished a collection of glass sculptures in the famous glassmaking studios in Murano (Venice) under Master Lino Tagliapietra.
Emilio Baracco’s sculptures and drawings can be found in many public and private collections worldwide. He has had solo exhibitions internationally including, the United States, Russia, Asia, and is exhibited continuously throughout Europe. He has been reviewed by many important publications and has given numerous workshops and seminars in printmaking and sculpture.
