Green and Gold Graduation Pledge

C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University graduates are invited to participate in the Graduation Pledge of Social and Environmental Responsibility. If they choose to do so, they are making a promise to evaluate the broader consequences of any job they take. Students can volunteer to take the Green and Gold Pledge, which states: "As a graduate of Long Island University, I pledge to be attentive to the social and environmental consequences of my actions and to improve these aspects in my home, work and community." By taking this voluntary pledge, Long Island University's newest graduates join students from other regional higher learning institutions, including Columbia University, Hunter College, Fordham University and Manhattan College, as well as more than 130 universities nationwide, in committing to civic responsibility. Green Pledge ribbons are worn by students on commencement day. Students can pick up their ribbons on graduation day prior to 9:30 a.m. Undergraduate students can receive their ribbon in front of Room 119 of Humanities Hall. Graduate students can pick up their ribbons in the lobby of Tilles Center.
