Teaching is among the most satisfying and rewarding careers. And with hundreds of thousands of teachers nationwide scheduled to retire in this decade, there has never been a better time to join the profession.

"Job opportunities for teachers over the next 10 years will vary from good to excellent,” according to the U.S. Department of Labor. “Shortages of qualified teachers will likely continue, resulting in competition among some localities, with schools luring teachers from other States and districts with bonuses and higher pay."

The School of Education at C.W. Post is among the regional leaders in teacher education, with affiliations with more than 80 school districts in Suffolk, Nassau, Queens and Westchester counties.

"Our faculty and administrators' close working relationships with district administrators and teachers facilitate the placement of our students," said Dr. Robert Manheimer, dean of the School of Education. "We place more than 500 students each semester in student teaching positions."

Adolescence education is just one of 17 master's degrees offered by the School of Education. In all, the C.W.
