Arboretum Expands

  • During the winter of 2007, the C.W. Post Community Arboretum was expanded to include 12 new species of trees and shrubs -- all labeled with the tree name, Latin name, and in some cases horticultural information. The arboretum now has 127 specimens and has expanded in size from 20 acres to 40 acres.
  • In commemoration of the 95th anniversary of girl scouting, the Girl Scouts of Nassau County will donate 95 Blue Spruce seedlings to the C.W. Post Community Arboretum on May 17, 2007. Dozens of girl scouts will plant the trees in a nursery on the south side of campus until they are large enough to transplant into the arboretum.
