Local High School Art Students Exhibit Works
at C.W. Post – Through January 24

Students from 34 high schools in Nassau and Suffolk counties were selected by their teachers to exhibit their artwork for the exhibition, “Advanced Visions III:  High School Artists of Excellence in Nassau and Suffolk County.”  Sponsored by the Art Department of the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University, Brookville, the exhibition is on view December 20, 2006 through January 24, 2007 in the Campus’ Student Art League Gallery. The display recognizes the superior work being done by high school students in Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate, and Portfolio Preparation art programs across Long Island.

Professor Winn Rea, exhibition coordinator, remarked, “This year’s exhibition features many figurative works rendered from unique and original points of view.  The show takes these talented students to the next level of presenting their work to the public in a formal gallery setting.  It is amazing what they have been able to accomplish with the encouragement of their teachers!”  The students’ artistic skill, expressiveness and virtuosity in a variety of media, were applauded by university faculty, secondary teachers, parents, and the public, alike.”

Hillwood Commons’ Student Art League Gallery hours are Thursday and Friday, 1 to 6 p.m. and Saturday, 12 noon to 4 p.m.  A reception with an awards presentation will be held Wednesday, January 24, 2007, 5 to 7:30 p.m.  Awards will be presented at 7 p.m. The gallery is located on the lower level of Hillwood Commons on the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University, 720 Northern Boulevard, Brookville.  Call (516) 299-2611 for directions.
