Photography Alumna Kerriann Flanagan Brosky Unites History & Hauntings
In ‘Ghosts of Long Island: Stories of the Paranormal’
Who is Kerriann Flanagan Brosky? As reported in recent books-signings and media interviews, Kerriann is historian first, and ghost-buster second.
Yet, foremost, Brosky is a photographer. A 1990 magna cum laude graduate of the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University, Brosky studied under renowned photographer Arthur Leipzig. Now, Brosky has authored her highly anticipated third book, “Ghosts of Long Island: Stories of the Paranormal,” which presents 30 tales of haunted habitats, ghostly encounters and spiritual sightings, along with historical accounts of their settings. Visit www.ghostsoflongisland.com for more about the book.
Kerriann discussed her new book in appearances and media interviews ranging from Huntington’s Book Revue to WLIW-Channel 21’s "Ticket" with host Laura Savini and WCBS-News 2 Sunday Morning.
“Ghosts are often thought of as frightening, but a spirit may be positive and even comforting. In researching and writing ‘Ghosts of Long Island: Stories of the Paranormal,’ I came to appreciate that the spirit may be a family member or friend who perhaps has come back to check on us from time to time or who may even help us through life,” said Kerriann, originally from Plainview and now a Huntington, New York resident.
Brosky, assisted by paranormal investigator Joe Giaquinto, tracked Long Island legends for months, interviewing current or former residents of haunted houses, employees of establishments where paranormal activities are said to occur and descendants who believe they are in contact with a family phantom.
Published by Huntington’s Maple Hill Press, Ltd., (1996) “Ghosts of Long Island: Stories of the Paranormal” is available at The Book Revue, most Borders locations and other local book stores as well as at www.amazon.com.
