Dean John Regazzi Tapped to Head National Tech Advisory Board
Brookville,
N.Y. -- John J. Regazzi, Ph.D., dean of the College of Information
and Computer Science at the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University,
has been appointed chairman of the National Technical Information
Service (NTIS) Advisory Board and selected as an advisor to Carlos
Gutierrez, secretary of the U.S. Department of Commerce.
Dr. Regazzi is a renowned figure in the world of electronic publishing.
Before becoming dean, he was managing director of market development
at Elsevier, the world’s largest publisher of scientific,
technical and health information. He also was the CEO of Elsevier
Inc., the U.S. division of Elsevier, and managing director of Elsevier
Electronic Publishing.
"I am extremely enthusiastic about the upcoming work of the
NTIS Advisory Board as it draws on the expertise of its members
to provide guidance and recommendations to NTIS on how well it is
serving its customers and the national interest," said Secretary
Gutierrez.
The NTIS serves as the largest central resource for government-funded
scientific, technical, engineering and business-related information
available. For 60 years, NTIS has provided businesses, universities
and the public access to more than 3 million publications covering
in excess of 350 subject areas. Its mission is to support the nation’s
economic growth by providing access to information that stimulates
innovation and discovery.
“I am honored to be selected to chair the advisory board,”
said Dr. Regazzi. “I am looking forward to working with the
NTIS in this critical and exciting point in its development.”
Dr. Regazzi oversees one of the most comprehensive i-schools in
the country. The College of Information and Computer Science at
the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University offers undergraduate
and graduate degrees in computer science, library and information
science, information management and technology, information systems,
information studies, and management engineering. Courses are offered
at the C.W. Post Campus in Brookville, as well as sites in Westchester,
