Alumni of WCWP Radio to Broadcast During Homecoming Festivities Oct. 13-15
Brookville, NY—Homecoming weekend at the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University will be a chance for alumni to see old friends, watch some games and for a lucky few, return to the airwaves as 88.1 FM/WCWP turns the station over to its former students.
The fun begins Friday night, October 13 at 7 p.m. and continues all weekend, ending Sunday evening, October 15. Aside from playing music popular when they were students, alumni also will call the Homecoming Football game versus Bentley College, on Saturday, October 14 at noon.
“It’s always a treat to have alumni back,” said Station Manager Dan Cox. “Students get the chance to learn from experienced broadcasters and learn about the history of the station.”
Students at WCWP explore various positions in news, sports and talk show programming. They can produce and host talk shows each weekday evening covering topics such as news, sports and politics. As an associate member of National Public Radio (NPR), WCWP FM broadcasts hourly NPR news updates. WebRadio WCWPis a student-operated station also located in the Benjamin and Elizabeth Abrams Communications Center.
