C.W. Post Announces New Accelerated B.S./M.B.A. in Accountancy

November 4, 2005 - An Accelerated B.S./M.B.A. degree program in Accountancy offered by the College of Management on the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University in Brookville, was recently approved by the New York State Education Department.

Students can enroll in the Accelerated B.S./M.B.A. program at any time starting immediately, even if they transfer from a community college or another institution. Prior to the last semester of the senior year, when students would enroll in graduate-level classes, they must formally apply for admission to the M.B.A. portion of the program and meet GPA and GMAT index requirements. Qualified students may also apply for scholarship assistance.

This dual-degree program meets the State Education Department’s 150-semester hour curriculum requirement for CPA licensure, which goes into effect August 2009, and enables students to earn both a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Business Administration in Accountancy in only five years. Students can choose to specialize in information systems, taxation or professional accounting.

Classes are taught by professors who have substantial professional experience and excellent credentials. Many are CPAs who have their own accounting firms and are frequent contributors to well-known accounting publications and academic journals. Students will have access to state-of-the-art technology and software, networked classrooms and courses that are continually updated as laws, rules, issues and trends in accounting and taxation change. Classes are held during the day and evening.

The C.W. Post College of Management Business Program is accredited by the prestigious AACSB International – the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. It offers the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with majors in Finance, International Business, Marketing, Management and Management Information Systems; the highly acclaimed 36-to-48 credit Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) degree; and an accelerated one-year International M.B.A. The College of Management is also home to the School of Professional Accountancy -- the first school of its kind established in the country -- which offers bachelor's and master's degree programs in accountancy and taxation, and the School of Public Service, which has degrees in criminal justice, health care administration, public administration and social work.
